28 December 2013Fire Accident

On December 28, 2013, at ~10:45 pm, the ship suffered a cabin fire accident. The cruise ferry was en-route from Newcastle Ferry Port (North Shields) to Amsterdam, and approx 50 km (30 ml) off Humberside county's coast (Northern England). Within 15 min the fire was extinguished. To the vessel were dispatched RAF helicopters plus two RNLI lifeboats.

The accident resulted in 6 injured (2 passengers plus 4 crew, all suffering from smoke inhalation). They were medevaced (airlifted) and flown to Scarborough General Hospital. The ferry returned to North Shields at ~4 am, where a 26-year-old male passenger (from Sunderland England) was arrested and charged with arson.

22 February 2008Ship Collision / Allision

(King of Scandinavia) On February 22, 2008, while docked at Newcastle Ferry Port (North Shields), due to high winds the ship broke its mooring lines. After drifting across the river, it collided with an oil rig moored on the river's opposite bank. Fortunately, at the time of the collision, the cruise ferry was without passengers and no one was injured. Due to urgent repairs, next scheduled crossings were canceled.
