Crystal Serenity cabins review
During the 2023 drydock refurbishment, the number of staterooms on Crystal Serenity was reduced from 545 to 525. This resulted in an improved passenger-per-space ratio, increasing from 54 to 62, and changes in passenger capacity—from 980 (double occupancy) and 1254 (maximum) to 740-794 (double/max).
The ship has no Inside rooms. There are 8 ADA-certified/wheelchair-accessible cabins for disabled guests and 28 connecting cabins (14 pairs).
There are 7 cabin categories, accommodating a maximum of 2, 3, or 4 guests per stateroom.
Following the 2023 redesign, the Crystal Cruises Serenity ship introduced two new cabin categories: "Junior Crystal Penthouse Suite" and "Single Guest Room with Ocean View" (available without a single supplement). Existing Penthouses, Oceanview, and Balcony cabins were redesigned, enlarged, and fully refurbished, with categories renamed.
The updated accommodations include 4x Crystal Penthouse Suites (midship on Deck 11), 6x Junior Crystal Penthouse Suites (forward on Decks 8-9), 151x Sapphire Veranda Suites, 86x Aquamarine Veranda Suites, 46x Double Guest Rooms with Veranda (standard balcony cabins), 40x Double Guest Rooms with Oceanview, and 14x new Single Guest Rooms with Oceanview (solo traveler cabins without a single supplement).
For the redesign of select staterooms, Crystal Cruises partnered with GEM (Design for Cruise Ships), a Genoa, Italy-based firm. The new interiors feature neutral tones and pastel colors, premium fixtures, artisanal finishes, and contemporary furniture.
Standard cabin amenities and services (complimentary in all categories) include a living area (sofa, low table, mirrored vanity with chair, TV, electronic safe in the closet), sleeping area (Queen-size bed convertible to twin beds, premium bedding, 4 pillows, leather headboard, nightstands with reading lamps), and bathroom (walk-in shower, hairdryer, hair straightener upon request). Also included are 24-hour room service, turndown service, shoeshine service, packing/unpacking assistance, and a welcome bottle of champagne.
Complimentary offerings include wine and spirits by the glass (from a fixed menu), soft drinks, fresh fruit (refreshed daily or upon request), a pillow menu, unlimited WiFi, and an interactive tablet for reservations and ship updates.
Aquamarine Suites and higher categories feature a walk-in closet, one-touch LED lighting, surround-sound system, Nespresso machine, two binoculars (for onboard use), fresh flowers, and daily afternoon canapés.
Sapphire Suites and above include two TVs and additional perks such as complimentary dry cleaning (5 pieces + 1 bag of laundry every 10 cruise days) and daily pressing of up to 5 items.
Crystal Penthouse Suites accommodate up to 4 guests (with a double sofabed) and offer 3 TVs, a separate dining room, a Butler's pantry (with refrigerator and coffee machine), a master bedroom (Queen bed convertible to twins), and a master bathroom with ocean view (Duravit Nahho flotation bathtub, TV, interactive shower, heated bench, bidet, separate toilet, and dual-sink vanity). There’s also a half bath (toilet and washbasin) and a walk-in closet with illuminated rods and custom shelving.
Junior Crystal Penthouse Suites include a separate bedroom, dining area, two guest bathrooms, a full bathroom (dual-sink vanity, bathtub, separate glass shower), in-cabin cocktail parties, private transfers (up to 100 mi/160 km to/from the ship), and Butler or Concierge escort on embarkation day (from cruise terminal to stateroom).
OLD Crystal Serenity Staterooms (Review)
In the original configuration, 85% of Crystal Serenity cabins featured step-out balconies—108 Suites and 356 Balcony rooms. The remaining 80 were Oceanview cabins.
There were 10 wheelchair-accessible cabins and 98 connecting cabins (49 pairs).
The number of cabin categories was 13, with a maximum occupancy of 3 guests per stateroom.
All Suite guests enjoyed complimentary amenities and services including butler service (shoeshine, unpacking, laundry/pressing/dry cleaning), welcome gifts (Champagne), and luxury dining sets (China, Crystal).
CP Crystal Penthouse Suites featured a spacious living room (dining area, pantry, 3 TVs, Bang & Olufsen sound system), guest bathroom (with shower), bedroom (2 twin beds convertible to king, walk-in closet), master bathroom (whirlpool bathtub with oceanview, shower stall, bidet), and a gym area (with treadmill).
PS Penthouse Suites had a large living area, bedroom (with picture window, 2 twin beds convertible to Queen, walk-in closet), and bathroom (whirlpool bathtub, shower stall, bidet).
PH Penthouses included a living area, bedroom (walk-in closet, 2 twin beds convertible to Queen), and bathroom (whirlpool bathtub and shower stall).
Oceanview and Balcony cabins had a seating area, two twin beds (convertible to Queen), and a bathroom with bathtub and shower. Wheelchair-accessible cabins lacked walk-in closets and bidets.
All Crystal Serenity staterooms included free beverages (soft drinks, beer, bottled water), deluxe bedding sets (Scandinavian duvets, pillow menu), a DVD/CD library, smart HDTV (with infotainment, internet access, and on-demand movies), mini-refrigerator, telephone, electronic safe, and lifejackets (in the closet). Bathrooms featured luxury ETRO bath products (bathrobes, slippers, shower cap, shoe mitt, sewing kit, shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, and bath salts).
