Silver Cloud cabins review
Most Silver Cloud cabins (75%) feature private balconies, except the Vista Suites (window suites) located on the lowest cabin deck (Deck 4). There are 2 handicap (wheelchair-accessible) cabins for disabled passengers (#640 and #643, on Deck 6, located near the lobby elevator). The ship has no connecting rooms (suites convertible to double suites), except for the highest-category 2-bedroom suites. The ship offers a total of 8 cabin categories.
Silver Cloud suites are among the largest accommodations at sea. As is traditional for Silversea, Cloud is an all-suite ship. All passenger accommodations are located in the forward half of the vessel. This layout allows all public spaces to be positioned between midship and the stern, improving guest comfort and privacy in the suites.
Follows the review of Silver Cloud staterooms (suite accommodations), including furniture, amenities, and complimentary services:
Each Silver Cloud suite features a large living area (chairs, table, sofa, writing desk), walk-in closet (with ample drawers and shelves), dining table, vanity area (mirrored table and small stool), marble bathroom (bathtub/shower, robes, towels, slippers, luxury bath products with a choice of premium European brands), bedroom (queen bed convertible to twins, luxury mattresses, Pratesi bedding sets, pillow menu, duvets), leather headboard, bedside tables with lamps, hairdryer, interactive LCD TV (satellite reception and infotainment system with movies-on-demand and live camera views), media center (high-quality sound system, VCR/DVD/CD with discs available from the ship’s library), iPod docking station, radio/alarm clock, mini-bar (cocktail cabinet), fully stocked refrigerator (wine, beer, and soft beverages), safe, direct-dial phone, magnifying mirror, binoculars, umbrella, stationery, aromatherapy cabin scents by Laura Tonatto, complimentary 24-hour room service (butler service), and 110–220 V power outlets.
- The room service menu features the same items as the main dining room’s menu. Course-by-course in-suite dining is available during The Restaurant’s opening hours through the complimentary butler service. During the day, guests may also order burgers, salads, and appetizers.
- Personal butler service includes dinner reservations, in-suite dining arrangements, minibar restocking, laundry service, shoeshine, and packing/unpacking assistance.
- Silversea fares include complimentary Wi-Fi (available shipwide in all suites and public areas). Each passenger receives at least 1 hour of free Wi-Fi Internet access per day. Wi-Fi is free and unlimited for guests staying in GS-Grand, RS-Royal, OS-Owner’s, and SS-Silver suite categories. This upgraded amenity applies on all Silver Cloud itineraries, including themed Silversea expedition cruises.
The highest-category suites (GS-Grand, RS-Royal, and OS-Owner’s) are available in two configurations—1-bedroom and 2-bedroom (when booked together with an adjacent Veranda Suite). These suites feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening to a large balcony furnished with luxury patio furniture, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a powder room with a full-size whirlpool bathtub. Two-bedroom suites have a second veranda, while Royal Suites feature three balconies. Additional amenities for GS-RS-OS-SS suite guests include whirlpool bathtubs, daily newspapers, two hours of complimentary worldwide phone usage, complimentary laundry service (dry cleaning and pressing), afternoon canapés served in-suite, an Illy coffee maker, additional televisions, exclusive dining at the Officers’ Table, and one complimentary dinner for two at the Le Champagne restaurant.
Vista Suites (on Deck 4 and two forward staterooms on Deck 5) feature a large picture window instead of a balcony, and several include a sofa bed accommodating a third guest.
All three Silver Suites are located on the starboard side near the midship staircase on Decks 5, 6, and 7. Unlike other high-category accommodations, these cannot be booked as double suites. They are also the only passenger suites on the ship without bathtubs in their bathrooms.
In 2017, MS Silver Cloud underwent a major drydock refit and refurbishment (August–September) before joining the Silversea Expeditions fleet. The ship’s capacity was reduced from 362 to 260 passengers (on non-polar cruises). On polar voyages (Arctic and Antarctic itineraries), the maximum passenger capacity is limited to 200 guests.
