The Sun Deck layout shows two separate sections. The aft part is accessible from the Promenade Deck E only, via two staircases. This is another great outdoor space to enjoy the fresh air while on the ship, with an enclosed seating area with chairs. This is also the place for the Hurtigruten Vesteralen’s special ceremony called “Arctic Circle baptism”, which includes a Neptune-costumed crewmember, ice-cold seawater, and a free shot – for warming up.
The forward section is accessible from both decks E-Promenade and G-Panorama. In this section are the Navigation Bridge and the 4 service boats (2 are used for passenger tendering and 2 are lifeboats).
The fore-located Navigation Bridge and the adjacent Captain’s Suite and officers quarters are inaccessible for passengers.
Unlike most Hurtigruten ships, ms Vesteralen doesn’t have outdoor whirlpools on its Sun Deck.
