Viking Hemming (2014-built, chartered through a partnership with Douro Azul) is one of the smaller, modified-design Viking longships operating on the Douro River (Portugal), together with Torgil (2014), Osfrid (2016), Helgrim (2019), Gyda (2025), and Sol (2027).
This longship is named after Hemming of Denmark, the “peacemaker” king of the Danes. Although he reigned for only two years, Hemming is remembered for the Treaty of Heiligen (811 AD), signed between him and Emperor Charlemagne (Charles the Great), King of the Franks and Italy. The treaty established Denmark’s southern boundary along the Eider River with the Carolingian Empire.
The Viking Hemming cruise ship deck plan features a total of 53 staterooms for 106 passengers (served by 33 crew/staff), across 4 passenger decks, and includes 1 swimming pool and 1 elevator (connecting the Main, Middle, and Upper decks only).
Onboard, there are no fitness/gym or spa facilities. Guests may access health and spa services at luxury hotels along the cruise itinerary route.
