Viking Torgil (built 2014, partnership with Douro Azul) is one of the modified-design (smaller in size) Viking Cruises longships on River Douro in Portugal - together with Viking Hemming (2014), Viking Osfrid (2016) and Viking Helgrim (2019). This cruise ship is named after Torgil – the Danish explorer. Endowed with ships by their father (the Danish king Harald), Torgil (Thorgisl) and his brother Frode sailed westwards to raid the lands of Bretland (Wales and West England), Scotland, Ireland, and as far south to Portugal. They are also known as the Viking conquerors of Dublin, Ireland (841 AD), becoming its first kings.
