As the 2023-2024 Antarctic cruise season gets underway, 4 ships have been observed docking at Port Montevideo Uruguay.

These vessels are involved in various activities, including passenger arrivals, crew relief, provisions loading, bunkering/fueling, waste disposal, and general maintenance.

The vessels this week included Ocean Endeavour and World Explorer (at Berths 1 and 2), as well as Ocean Adventurer (Berth 5) and the SH Vega (CMB berth).

Tabare Viera (Uruguay's Tourism Minister) highlighted this event as a sign of the industry's recovery, which was significantly impacted by the COVID crisis.

During the 2022-2023 season, the number of cruise ships visiting Uruguay increased by 9% compared to the 2019-2020 season, which was the last season before the pandemic. This growth has been more pronounced in Montevideo compared to Punta del Este.
