Man overboard incident disrupts MSC Preziosa's New Year's Eve cruise to Rio

Amidst a New Year's Eve cruise to Rio de Janeiro, a deliberate act unfolded as a man intentionally jumped overboard, prompting a midnight disruption on MSC Preziosa. The incident led to the cancellation of an imminent show.

In adherence to standard emergency protocols, the ship's crew swiftly initiated rescue measures, deploying two rescue crafts and notifying the Brazilian Coast Guard. Despite exhaustive search endeavors, the missing passenger could not be located, and, in accordance with privacy considerations, details surrounding the individual and the incident were withheld.

In response to the man overboard situation, the ship's management opted to cancel a scheduled performance by the renowned musician Alexandre Pires, demonstrating respect for the missing passenger and ongoing search operations.

The incident marks the third of its kind on an MSC cruise ship within the past 45 days. Notably, a crew member jumped off the MSC Seascape last month, and earlier this month, a North American man took a similar action on the MSC Armonia during a repositioning cruise to South America.
