Margaritaville at Sea has announced the acquisition of the cruise ship Costa Fortuna from Costa Cruises, with plans to integrate the vessel into its fleet by late 2026 or early 2027. This move aligns with the company's strategy to expand its offerings and cater to a growing customer base.
The Costa Fortuna, constructed in 2003, boasts a gross tonnage of approximately 102,669 and can accommodate up to 3,470 passengers. This capacity represents a significant increase compared to Margaritaville at Sea's current ships, such as the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise, which accommodates around 1,308 guests.
Upon acquisition, the vessel is expected to undergo extensive renovations to align with Margaritaville at Sea's branding and guest experience standards. These refurbishments will likely include updates to staterooms, dining venues, and entertainment spaces, drawing inspiration from the recent transformation of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander, formerly known as Costa Atlantica.
While specific details regarding the ship's new name and homeport have not been disclosed, the company has indicated plans to introduce new concepts and venues aboard the vessel. These additions aim to enhance the onboard experience and reflect the brand's commitment to providing a unique cruising atmosphere.
Until the transition is complete, Costa Cruises will continue to operate the Costa Fortuna. Further information about the ship's deployment and itineraries is anticipated as the integration process progresses.
