The Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM) has reported the inaugural arrivals of two large ships to Dominicana.
Virgin Voyages’ ship Valiant Lady and MSC's World America are scheduled to make their first calls at the ports of Puerto Plata, with Valiant Lady docking at Taíno Bay on September 28th, followed by MSC World America on September 29th.
According to APORDOM’s director, Jean Luis Rodríguez, the presence of these vessels on Dominican itineraries signals the growing confidence of international cruise operators in the nation’s maritime facilities and its appeal as a destination.
In October, APORDOM anticipates a total of 28 cruise ship arrivals: 14 at Taíno Bay, 12 at Amber Cove, and 2 at Cabo Rojo/Pedernales.
The port authority has also indicated that arrival schedules remain subject to adjustments influenced by weather and operational routing decisions.
The Valiant Lady is built to a length of 277 meters and fitted with 1,404 cabins, allowing for 2,762 passengers and 1,150 crew. She maintains a service speed of 20 knots. The Queen Elizabeth, measuring 294 meters, is capable of carrying 2,092 passengers, supported by her crew, and achieves speeds of up to 22 knots.
