At the Port of Brisbane, a noteworthy operational milestone was recorded with the 500th cruise vessel making port at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal since the facility’s opening in 2022.
This event occurred on Sunday, December 14th, when Carnival Luminosa berthed at the terminal, underscoring Brisbane’s expanding function as a significant cruise gateway within Australian waters.
The Brisbane International Cruise Terminal’s service history began on June 2nd, 2022, with the initial call by P&O Explorer. Over the ensuing three and a half years, the terminal has serviced vessels from many of the world’s foremost cruise lines, facilitating passenger movements to numerous Australian and international destinations and contributing to the growth of Queensland’s cruise sector.
Each cruise arrival reflects a complex logistical undertaking; for every ship call, an integrated team of approximately 130 personnel from the Port of Brisbane and associated partner organizations coordinate to manage vessel arrivals and departures, passenger processing, and wider port operations. Port authorities recognised the collective effort that enabled this milestone, expressing appreciation for the sustained commitment of port staff, cruise line collaborators, terminal operators, and the surrounding community since the terminal’s commissioning.
