Azamara Cruises has reinstated its Azamara Ashore land programme to extend the scope of its Destination Immersion® concept beyond seagoing voyages, offering passengers opportunities to undertake pre-cruise and post-cruise terrestrial explorations that lengthen their engagement with ports of call and surrounding regions. The line plans to introduce seventeen additional land experiences between 2026 and 2028, bringing the total catalogue of pre- and post-cruise programmes to eighty-four covering destinations in Africa, Oceania, Asia, Europe and the Americas. These offerings are structured to give travellers greater time ashore with organised stays that include logistical arrangements such as transfers and accommodation, alongside curated engagements with local culture, history and environments.
Among the options included in the expanded scheme are immersive city stays of typically two nights duration, designed to facilitate deeper interaction with urban centres and nearby cultural sites, and extended journeys of three to six nights that weave together multiple land experiences with local cuisine, guided tours and regional heritage, allowing far-flung destinations to be explored at a measured pace. The initiative also incorporates partnerships, such as arrangements with services that handle forward luggage delivery to hotels or cabins, further simplifying the transition between land and sea segments of travel.
This reintroduced land programme forms part of Azamara’s broader approach to its cruise product, which emphasises extended time ashore and cultural connection in addition to traditional seafaring itineraries, reflecting a trend in expedition and small-ship cruising toward more comprehensive destination experiences that blend maritime passage with in-depth exploration ashore.
