Liverpool Cruise Port and Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines have established a joint programme of maritime-focused community engagement and sustainability activities along Liverpool’s waterfront as part of preparations for the 2026 season.

The collaboration, framed by shared environmental, social and governance principles, brings together key civic and industry partners to coordinate a series of practical initiatives tied to recognised national and international observance days as well as local public projects.

Under the partnership, events and actions planned for 2026 will align with the maritime calendar and include observances such as Women in Maritime Day, the International Day of the Seafarer and International Coastal Clean-Up Day. Alongside these awareness-oriented activities, the framework will support projects intended to benefit the wider community, including contributions to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, enhancing public defibrillator access on and near the port estate, and measures to improve health, safety and wellbeing across the waterfront environment.

This programme builds on a longstanding relationship between the cruise line and the port, reflecting Liverpool’s role as a significant homeport for Fred Olsen for more than two decades.

Coordination with municipal and regional stakeholders – including local councils, maritime associations and port authorities – is intended to ensure that activity delivers measurable benefits for the city, its residents and the broader maritime community. Throughout the implementation phase, both organisations have indicated they will provide periodic progress updates on milestones achieved and community impacts as each initiative is delivered.
