Costa Cruises has confirmed that it will not operate voyages to the UAE or the broader Middle East region during the winter 2026–2027 season.

The company has instead reorganized its winter programme, introducing revised itineraries focused on Europe and the Atlantic.

Under the new schedule, Costa Smeralda will operate 7-day cruises between the Canary Islands and Madeira throughout the winter. This will mark the first time the vessel has been deployed in the region during the winter months. The company indicated that the decision followed strong passenger demand recorded during the previous winter season for voyages in the area, which is known for its temperate climate and varied coastal landscapes.

Meanwhile, Costa Pacifica, which had initially been scheduled to operate Canary Islands itineraries, will instead be positioned in the Western Mediterranean after completing a planned shipyard stay in December. There the vessel will join Costa Toscana, together offering newly designed 8-day itineraries in the Western Mediterranean as well as extended cruises to destinations in Southern Europe and North Africa.

The company explained that the adjustment to the winter programme was intended to provide greater planning stability for passengers and travel partners while reducing the risk of operational disruption associated with the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

Passengers who had booked voyages to the Emirates or repositioning cruises aboard Costa Smeralda will be able to transfer their reservations to alternative sailings. As part of the revised arrangements, each affected cabin will receive an onboard credit of EUR 200, equivalent to EUR 100 per passenger.

Guests who had previously reserved Canary Islands cruises aboard Costa Pacifica will be transferred automatically to the new itineraries operated by Costa Smeralda, with bookings maintained under the same travel conditions.
