Windstar Cruises has introduced a new booking programme designed to provide greater flexibility for guests reserving eligible 2026 and 2027 sailings, as the company responds to continued caution among travellers planning future holidays. The initiative, named the Peace of Mind Promise, extends protection beyond the cruise fare itself to include the full Windstar-booked itinerary, covering shore excursions, hotel stays, flights, and transfers.
Under the programme, guests may cancel up to 7 days before departure while retaining most of the value of their booking as a Future Cruise Credit valid for 24 months. Windstar stated that the policy applies automatically, without additional charge, to eligible departures operating through March 31st, 2027, including reservations already under deposit.
The company also confirmed that bookings made through June 30th, 2026, would continue to qualify for a complimentary all-inclusive promotion that includes Wi-Fi, gratuities, and selected beverages. Windstar indicated that the combined value of these additions could exceed US$1,300 on a 7-night voyage for two guests.
Janet Bava, Chief Commercial Officer of Windstar Cruises, stated that travellers remained attentive to international developments and increasingly sought reassurance and booking flexibility before committing to future sailings. She noted that the new programme was intended to allow guests and travel advisors to secure preferred itineraries while retaining the option to adjust plans if necessary.
Windstar highlighted several featured itineraries within its 2026 and 2027 programme, including voyages in Alaska, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Japan, French Polynesia, and the Greek Isles. The company’s deployment continues to focus on small-ship operations with access to ports and destinations generally unavailable to larger cruise vessels.
The cruise line also emphasized that the Peace of Mind Promise differs from many existing cruise industry booking policies by extending coverage to the entire travel package rather than limiting protection solely to the cruise fare. Guests seeking additional protection may also purchase optional travel insurance covering medical expenses, interruptions, and baggage-related issues.
The introduction of the programme comes at a time when travel advisors and cruise operators continue to report shorter booking windows and increased demand for flexible cancellation policies. Discussions among cruise travellers online have reflected similar trends, with passengers increasingly monitoring promotional offers and postponing final decisions until closer to departure dates.
