HX Expeditions extends Greenland booking guarantee and launches cultural storytelling series

HX Expeditions has expanded its HX Greenland Promise to cover all Greenland sailings scheduled for 2027, while simultaneously introducing a new YouTube storytelling series focused on the destination’s culture and communities.

The announcement coincides with Greenland National Day and broadens the scope of the booking assurance programme first introduced in January. The policy now applies across the company’s entire Greenland portfolio for both 2026 and 2027, including dedicated East and West Greenland voyages as well as wider Arctic expeditions incorporating Greenland calls. The measure is intended to provide additional confidence for guests and travel advisors planning future travel to the region.

Under the HX Greenland Promise, travellers affected by a Greenland voyage cancellation initiated by HX, or by official government advice against travel, may transfer to an alternative HX expedition, receive an additional 20% Future Cruise Credit, or request a full refund.

Alongside the expansion of the programme, HX has launched Kalaallit: Portraits of Greenland, a four-part YouTube series presenting Greenland through the perspectives of local residents. The project has been developed to highlight the country’s culture, identity and communities through first-hand accounts rather than external interpretation.

Karin Strand, Vice President of Expedition Development at HX and the company’s Greenland product owner, indicated that Greenland remains one of the Arctic’s most remarkable yet comparatively under-discovered destinations. She noted that the new series was created to present Greenland through the voices of Greenlanders themselves, offering personal perspectives and experiences that provide audiences with a more authentic understanding of the country.

HX has established extensive operational and community links throughout Greenland and remains the destination’s largest expedition cruise operator by passenger volume, according to Air Greenland. The company also holds a leading position within the Arctic expedition cruise market. Through its Greenland programme, HX connects guests with the region’s landscapes, heritage and communities, and is expected to bring more than 2,500 travellers to the destination during 2025.

The company has also maintained a long-standing partnership with the Association of Greenlandic Children through the HX Foundation. Over the past seven years, the collaboration has supported youth programmes, educational initiatives, summer camps and projects aimed at assisting children facing challenging circumstances. These efforts have focused on creating supportive environments that encourage personal development and future opportunities for young people across Greenland.

HX Chief Executive Officer Gebhard Rainer stated that Greenland remains one of the world's most distinctive travel destinations and that 2027 presents an attractive opportunity for travellers seeking expedition experiences in the Arctic. He added that guests could expect a combination of dramatic natural scenery and meaningful cultural engagement, while the extension of the HX Greenland Promise was intended to provide additional reassurance when booking voyages to the region.
