Crystal has confirmed the construction of its third next-generation ocean ship at Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, with the contract becoming effective on August 5th, 2026. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2034 and represents the confirmation of an option exercised by Crystal in 2024.
The new ship will form part of a 3-vessel series of next-generation luxury ships. The first, Crystal Grace, is under construction at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard and is scheduled to enter service in 2028, while the second sister ship is planned for delivery in May 2031. Fincantieri began construction of Crystal Grace in May 2026, confirming a design of ~62,000 gross tons and capacity for 650 guests.
The three ships will follow a common design platform focused on spacious accommodation and high service levels. Each vessel will accommodate 650 passengers based on double occupancy and will feature all-veranda suites, including an Owner’s Suite and accommodation categories designed to address changing demand, including options for solo travelers.
The onboard design will combine extensive indoor and outdoor spaces with a full wrap-around promenade influenced by the public walkways of Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. Open-air areas, outdoor dining terraces and panoramic sea views will form part of the ships’ overall design, while the accommodation and public spaces will continue Crystal’s emphasis on space and personalized service.
The confirmation of the third ship extends Crystal’s fleet renewal programme into the 2030s and follows the progress of Crystal Grace, for which Fincantieri held its steel-cutting ceremony in May. The first vessel in the series is being built as a high-end cruise ship with premium materials, spacious guest areas and a high crew-to-passenger ratio.
Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, executive chairman of A&K Travel Group, said the confirmation of the third ship reflected the company’s long-term commitment to Crystal and its confidence in the future development of the brand. Cristina Levis, CEO of A&K Travel Group, added that demand for Crystal Grace had reinforced the decision to continue expanding the next-generation fleet.
For Fincantieri, the contract further extends its relationship with Crystal and A&K Travel Group. Luigi Matarazzo, general manager of Fincantieri’s Merchant Ships Division, said the agreement demonstrated the strength of the partnership and its shared focus on shipbuilding, design and luxury hospitality.
The 2034 vessel will therefore become the third unit in Crystal’s new generation of ocean ships, with the programme extending the company’s fleet development well into the next decade.
