NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has released the first images of Great Tides Waterpark, which is scheduled to open on September 4th, 2026, at its private island destination, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. Occupying ~6 acres of the 270-acre island, the new attraction will feature a wide range of family and adventure experiences, including a wandering river, a 4-person body slide, duelling slides, cliff jumps, an expanded splash zone for children and new food and beverage venues.
According to Norwegian Cruise Line President Marc Kazlauskas, the waterpark has been designed to become one of the Caribbean's signature private-island attractions, combining high-thrill rides, family-oriented activities, new dining concepts and dedicated relaxation areas available exclusively to the line's guests.
The development also introduces several new specialty dining venues. Low Tide Smoke will serve slow-smoked barbecue favourites, including St. Louis-style pork riblets, barbecue pork nachos, chicken wings and Buffalo cauliflower. Catch of the Day will focus on seafood offerings such as crispy shrimp rolls, fried shrimp baskets and chilled seafood rolls, while Tidal Treats will feature desserts including bubble-waffle sundaes, fish-shaped waffle cones with soft-serve ice cream and a selection of flavoured toppings. Complimentary buffet dining will also be available within the waterpark.
The expanded beverage programme includes the Grotto Bar, located beneath The Great Slide at Cliffside Cove, providing views of guests using the cliff-jump attraction, and the Floataway Bar, positioned within the Wandering River, allowing visitors to enjoy refreshments without leaving the water.
The opening of Great Tides Waterpark coincides with the completion of Great Stirrup Cay's new 2-berth pier, enhancing the island's capacity to accommodate visiting ships and supporting Norwegian Cruise Line's broader investment in expanding its exclusive destination experience in the Bahamas.
