Adora Cruises will return to Japan this summer with Adora Magic City, following a first half of 2026 during which the Chinese cruise line concentrated its international operations on South Korea and Southeast Asia. The revised deployment marks the resumption of Japanese port calls after Japan-bound itineraries were suspended earlier in the year amid diplomatic tensions between Beijing and Tokyo.
The 5,246-guest Adora Magic City will be the only vessel in the company's fleet to include Japanese ports during 2026. The updated summer programme features 4- to 6-night cruises departing from Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, combining calls in Japan and South Korea. The vessel is also scheduled to return to Japan during a December sailing later in the year.
The reinstatement of Japanese calls reflects a broader revival of regional cruise itineraries. Other international operators are also expanding their programmes in the region, with RCI-Royal Caribbean International deploying Spectrum of the Seas on summer and autumn voyages that include Japan, while MSC Cruises will return MSC Bellissima to Shanghai in August to operate cruises to Japanese and South Korean ports through late October.
