Starboard and Azamara Cruises have announced the launch of Azamara Shopping Rewards, a new retail loyalty programme designed to extend the benefits of onboard shopping beyond the cruise itself.
Powered by Open Network Exchange’s (ONE) technology platform, the programme allows Azamara guests to earn rewards from eligible retail purchases made aboard the cruise line’s ships. Accumulated points can then be redeemed through the Azamara Shopping Rewards Ecommerce Marketplace for a range of products and experiences.
The marketplace offers merchandise including wine and luggage, as well as culinary experiences, concert tickets and travel-related products such as flights and hotel stays. The programme is intended to complement Azamara Circle, the cruise line’s existing loyalty programme, by linking onboard retail spending with benefits that can be used after the voyage.
Starboard President and CEO Lisa Bauer said the programme represents a new approach to onboard retail rewards and is intended to turn shopping purchases into travel and lifestyle benefits that maintain guests’ connection with Azamara after their cruise.
Azamara Cruises CEO Dondra Ritzenthaler said the partnership makes Azamara the first cruise line to introduce this type of shopping rewards programme with Starboard. She added that the initiative provides another way for guests to engage with the brand while receiving benefits directly associated with their onboard purchases.
