Maine is on track to boast a record cruise ship season this year.
The state is expecting a total of 423 vessels with more than 380,000 passengers prior to the end of fall season. That is 62 more ships than in 2016.
Cruise ship visits to Maine have nearly tripled since 2003.

Bar Harbor and Portland, which are major destinations for the liners, are considering pier expansions in order to bring in larger ships and more passengers.
