Crystal Cruises' itinerary through the Arctic's Northwest Passage will take 2018 off. The company plans to come back with a smaller ship in 2019 or early 2020.

Last summer Crystal Serenity made the 32-day cruise through the Northwest Passage out of Seward to New York City, and according to the company became the largest cruise vessel to ever take the route. This year, Serenity sailed the passage again.

Currently, the company says its big ocean ships won't traverse the passage in the future, and instead, the megayacht Crystal Endeavor will sail the path.
