Three New Ships to Be Built for Silversea Cruises

RCCL-Royal Caribbean (parent company of Silversea) announced shipbuilding agreements for 3 new vessels for RCCL's ultra-luxury brand Silversea Cruises (part of RCCL since July 2018).

Silversea has signed a memorandum of understanding with the German shipbuilder Meyer Werft to construct 2 units (new “Evolution Class”) at the Papenburg shipyard, with the first ship (Silver Nova) currently scheduled for delivery in 2022.

The 3rd contract was signed with the Dutch shipbuilder Shipyard De Hoop - for a new expedition ship (to be named Silver Origin) that will serve a Galapagos Islands cruise itinerary program currently served by Silver Galapagos. The newbuild enters service in March 2020.

The agreements are subject to contingencies that are expected to be completed during the first quarter of next year.
