Container Ship Collides with Fast Ferry

A fastcraft that was bound for Tubigon out of Cebu City and a cargo ship accidentally collided in waters at the vicinity of accident prone Lawis Ledge off Talisay City Thursday night, October 18.

At around 8:45 p.m. the container ship MV Ocean United hit the rear end of FastCat M11 that had 70 passengers onboard and 12 rolling cargoes, a PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) report said.

According to PCG, four of the passengers had been injured with one of them rushed to hospital for immediate medical attention.

FastCat M11 was able to return to Pier 3 in Cebu at around 9:30 p.m. while the container ship was directed to be moored at the anchorage area of the port.

Both ships were placed under custody of authorities pending safety inspection and investigation.
