V.Ships Leisure Awarded Technical Management Contract for Magellan Explorer

V.Ships Leisure, which is part of the leading global marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider V.Group, has been awarded a contract by Antarctica21 for technical management of the expedition ship Magellan Explorer.

The 100-passenger Magellan Explorer, currently under construction at Asenav, Chile, is due to be delivered in October, next year. The vessel is being built to the new polar code and is customised for Antarctica fly-cruises. It will join the fleet of Antarctica21 as the first newbuild for the Chile-based brand, with current fleet on charter agreements.

Growth in diversifying cruise market is key part of the trategy of V.Group, which was the first ship management company to set up dedicated cruise brand and team.

Marlins, V.Group’s e-learning expert, has developed an interactive e-learning Polar Code tool approved by the Bahamas flag for training deck officers in initial stages of the code.
