The Smallest Cruise Ship of the Summer Season Arrives in Newcastle

The smallest cruise ship of Port Newcastle NSW's summer season slipped into harbor Wednesday morning, February 6.

Ponant's superyacht Le Laperouse only measures 132 meters in length and accommodates 184 passengers. Explorer of the Seas is due in the cruise port on February 16 but measures 311 meters and carries a total of 4,029 people.

Le Laperouse is the first of Ponant's 6 identical new ships and was delivered mid-2018. It is her inaugural Australian trip. The liner is due to depart at 8 pm on Wednesday.

The arrival of Le Laperouse follows the first cruise call of the season on October 25, when Caledonian Sky made her maiden cruise to Newcastle.
