First Steel Cut for Holland America's New Ship

The steel cutting ceremony for the 3rd ship that Fincantieri is building for Holland America took place on Wednesday, March 13, at the shipyard in Marghera (Venice, Italy).

The newbuild (Nieuw Ryndam) is scheduled for delivery in 2021 and will be the 17th unit built by Fincantieri for the cruise line, the 3rd of the “Pinnacle” class, following ms Koningsdam and ms Nieuw Statendam, delivered from the same yard in March 2016 and November 2018.

The cruise ship will be about 99,500 GT, around 300 meters long, able to accommodate 2,662 passengers onboard in over 1,300 staterooms. The technology of the unit will be aimed at minimizing environmental impact and optimizing energy efficiency.
