A Carnival Cruise Line's ship rescued 7 Haitian fishermen who were stuck at sea for a couple of days.

The cruise ship was rerouted Friday afternoon, June 7, after being alerted to a number of people calling for help on a small vessel.

Carnival Horizon was sailing to her home port in Miami FL at the time. The final port of call of the ship was in Aruba the previous day. Other visits included Curacao and Grand Turk as part of an 8-day southern Caribbean itinerary. The cruiser is scheduled to arrive back at Miami port on Sunday, June 9, with the 7 fishermen onboard. Upon arrival, they will be handed over to authorities.

The passengers were given water, food, and medical treatment on Carnival Horizon.

There is no impact to the ship’s Sunday arrival.
