Passenger Medevaced from Norwegian Bliss

A cruise passenger was rescued from an NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line ship off the coast of North Carolina USA, due to health concerns.

According to the Coast Guard, a man was sailing on Norwegian Bliss when he started feeling symptoms of appendicitis Monday afternoon, December 2. At the time of the accident, the liner was ~40 mi (65 km) southeast of Hatteras (Dare County, NC).

An Elizabeth City helicopter crew got the man off the ship and took him to Morehead City (Carteret Health Care). The name of the passenger has not been released. At this time there is no update on his condition.

At the time of the accident, the ship was on a 12-day, round-trip Southern Caribbean cruise from New York (Dec 1-Dec 13).
