First Steel Cut for Oceanwide Expeditions' MV Janssonius

As it was previously announced in July, Oceanwide Expeditions ordered a new Polar Class 6 vessel MV Janssonius. The new ship will feature the same passenger capacity as MV Hondius (174 pax), nearly identical design and size, and will be a PC6 ice-strengthened vessel - equivalent to 1A-Super ice-class cruiseferries.

Completely on schedule, the official steel cutting took place in Brodosplit Shipyard in Split Croatia and marked the beginning of the ship's construction.

The completion of Janssonius is scheduled for 2021. As of November 2021, the new polar ship will be sailing in the polar regions, delivering adventure-type travellers to the most iconic locations in Antarctica and the Arctic.

MV Janssonius' inaugural cruise will be a roundtrip to South Georgia Island (British Antarctica), departing November 5, 2021, from Ushuaia.
