Holland America commemorates 147th anniversary

HAL-Holland America Line - one of the Carnival Corporation's biggest subsidiaries - commemorated its 147th anniversary on Saturday, April 18, by honouring its rich legacy and looking forward to its next chapter. Founded on April 18, 1873 (as Netherlands-American Steamship Company) the passenger shipping company had in its fleet 150+ vessels throughout the years.

With cruise travel suspended globally, the premium line is reflecting on the resilience that's been exhibited throughout the history of the company, enduring challenging times many times before but emerging stronger due to loyal guests, dedicated crew, and the support of travel advisors.

A 3rd Pinnacle-class ship, ms Nieuw Ryndam, is currently under construction at the Italian Fincantieri shipyard and scheduled for delivery in 2021-Q2. While the line has paused global operations through July, only one other time in its history did operations cease. During World War II, passenger voyages stopped, and vessels were called to serve in the Allied war effort.

Since 1873, Holland America has sailed to all 7 continents, offered decades of world voyages and explored Alaska for over 70 years. Each time a new liner joins the fleet it is a celebration that marks the next chapter in HAL's history.

New short-term "Book with Confidence" cancellation policy is now available for bookings with departure dates through October 15. A generous Cancellation Protection Plan is available for purchase until the cancellation policy for a cruise booking is in effect. The CPP provides cash refunds and permits canceling for any reason. Additional offers that feature savings and perks are expected to have customers dreaming of travel next year and beyond.
