2021 cruise season to be delayed in Maine USA

The cruise shipping industry in Maine USA is preparing for a delay to the state's season 2021 due to the pandemic.

The USA's cruise ship industry was halted under the CDC's “no sail order” since March 2020. A framework for the resumption of passenger shipping operations replaced the order in October.

CruiseMaine (part of Maine Office of Tourism) met this week to get ready for the coming season.

According to CruiseMaine executive director Sarah Flink, the organization’s goals included helping ports in the state with regulatory compliance amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Flink said that the beginning of their season was "still several months away and may very well be delayed further.”

The resumption of cruise operations in the US state will mean cooperating with medical facilities, tour operators, shore-side workers, as well as other stakeholders.
