Scenic Cruises is combining a total solar eclipse with an all-inclusive Antarctica cruise on a luxurious yacht.

The 200 passengers aboard Scenic Eclipse (world’s first "Discovery Yacht") will be able to view a total solar eclipse, when the yacht is positioned at Antarctica's South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands on December 4, 2021. The total solar eclipse is only able to be viewed within a 50-mile land radius during an eclipse event.

The 20-day "Antarctica, South Georgia and Falkland Islands with Solar Eclipse" itinerary (departure November 21) is taking in some of the most pristine landscapes in the world. Passengers will be able to view wildlife unseen elsewhere as well as learn about various topics from true experts.

Scenic’s onboard Discovery Team of over a dozen leading experts is to be joined by a couple of former NASA scientists and a world-renowned astrologer: Dr. Karen Knierman, a lecturer in Astrophysics at the School of Earth & Space Exploration at Arizona State University, is expected to relate her experience working with the Hubble Space Telescope studying star formation in colliding galaxies; while Dr. Patrick Young, an Associate Professor of Astrophysics & Astrobiology also from the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University, will explain the life and death of stars. Rachel Frances Gordon is a recognized intuitive consultant, educator, and speaker, providing astrological and intuitive consultations since 1980.

The yacht's two helicopters allow guests the chance to take in views of Antarctica not often seen while its 6-guest submarine, Scenic Neptune, is the first permitted submersible to operate in South Georgian waters, capable of diving to 1000 ft.

Scenic Cruises is also offering Super Earlybird savings of up to 20% on the voyage when fares are paid in upon booking. Bookings are covered by the flexible booking policy of Scenic, enabling passengers to defer their sailing to another travel date/itinerary up to 60 days before departure, and come with the line’s Deposit Protection Plan included or passengers can choose to upgrade to Scenic’s new Risk-Free Platinum Protection Plan, providing changes/cancellations up to15 days before departure.

Scenic Eclipse boasts the highest Polar Class 6 rating and custom-built stabilizers that are 50% bigger than those of other cruise ships to provide greater stability.
