On Tuesday, July 27, RCI-Royal Caribbean is setting sail from Port Canaveral (Orlando, Florida) on a test cruise.

The line's Allure of the Seas is scheduled to depart at 5 PM with a mix of crew and volunteers onboard. The ship is scheduled to return on Thursday, July 29. This is the first RCI voyage from Florida since the COVID crisis began.

The idea is to make sure the line can operate safely during the pandemic.

DCL-Disney Cruise Line's ship Disney Dream recently returned from a test sailing with Disney employees. It is part of the company’s efforts to get the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) approval to sail with paying guests.

According to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the CDC’s 4-step process to allowing cruising from Florida was overly burdensome and harmed a multi-billion dollar industry and the economy of Florida.

The CDC said its rules would prevent COVID outbreaks on ships that have close quarters and calls at foreign ports.
