COVID outbreak on MSC Cruises' ship Virtuosa in the UK

   September 7, 2021 ,   Accidents

Suspected COVID cases were identified onboard MSC Cruises' ship MSC Virtuosa which was today docked on Liverpool (England) waterfront.

Some passengers are being kept in isolation onboard after having tested positive for COVID or coming into close contact with the infected.

MSC said that increased testing had identified suspected cases, and they were an example of the protocol doing "exactly what it was designed to do."

MSC said in a statement that in connection with the current rise of COVID cases in the UK, it had recently further strengthened its Health & Safety Protocol onboard Virtuosa during her UK sailings "to manage the prevailing COVID-19 risks."

"This has included additional testing of both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests and crew, which has allowed us to identify suspect COVID-19 cases at the terminal during the pre-embarkation process and onboard the ship.

"All have been identified and effectively managed in line with the protocol and in cooperation with relevant UK health authorities.”
