Falmouth is a city in Antigua located at the end of Falmouth Harbour, in the south of the island. A road links the town with nearby larger city of Liberta.
The great view from Monks Hill is popular among visitors. Monks Hill homes one of the 40 forts built by the British during the occupation of the island during the 1800's. This Fort was created as a place of refuge in case the French attack Falmouth Harbour. While a French vessel was passing on its way to Guadaloupe the British evacuated the port town in fear of attack. Remains of the fort can be seen and explored today. In order to arrive at the historical landmark visitors have to proceed to Falmouth village on the island's South Easterly coast line in St.Paul's parish.
After passing through Antigua's village of Falmouth passengers will enter the village of Cobbs Cross. Turning left after Cobbs Cross Primary School allows seeing a Y junction that is a few yards from the turn. Making the second left and proceeding to the top of the hill leads to the magnificent view of Falmouth Harbour. Only 4x4 vehicles are able to make it to the top and the journey is easier on foot.
Any villager will say that the best place to eat in Saint Paul's is Sweet T's Ice Cream Parlour, situated on the main road, within walking distance of Catamaran hotel and stones throw away from C.E.Baileys Supermarket. Sweet T's is the spot to be, no matter if for one of the island's local treats or for a hot fudge Sunday.
Winds from nearby Falmouth Harbour provide cool outdoor atmosphere for passengers to enjoy their meal. At various times during the year special events are enjoyed by villagers and tourists, such as Sweet T's fishing tournament, and yearly anniversary party. A must try are the chicken salad and "Back Builder" milk shake. In case guests have trouble finding their way, they should ask one of the friendly villagers.
The airport of Antigua is serviced by plenty of airlines. A mini cab to Falmouth from the airport costs around US$30.
