American Queen cabins review

Like the steamboat’s public areas, the American Queen cabins are decorated with Victorian-style antiques and reproductions. Staterooms and suites feature polished wood finishes, traditional Victorian color schemes, and framed photographs from the steamboat era. Beds in all cabins are exceptionally comfortable, dressed in luxury linens, and offer generous under-bed storage. Handicap-/wheelchair-accessible cabins are available in all categories except those designed for single/solo travelers. There are 12 cabin categories in total.

Most staterooms have two twin beds that can be converted into a queen. Many balcony cabins open directly onto the promenade decks and do not have private balconies. However, each veranda is furnished with two chairs and one cocktail table.

Below is an overview of the American Queen riverboat cabins, including amenities, furnishings, and complimentary services:

  • SUITES (categories LS and AAA) include either a full-size antique-style bed or two single beds, a private bathroom (with toilet, tub, and shower), a small sitting area with a sofa bed, a cocktail table with chairs, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a balcony or deck.
  • SUPERIOR STATEROOMS (category A) feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a balcony or deck. Each room has a private bath (tub and shower) and is furnished with either two single beds or a queen-size bed.
  • DELUXE BALCONY ROOMS (categories AA, B, C, E) come with either a bay/porthole window or floor-to-ceiling doors opening onto the deck. Each includes a private bathroom (tub and shower) and either two single beds or a queen-size bed.
  • OUTSIDE DELUXE CABINS (category D) are equipped with non-opening floor-to-ceiling porthole windows, a private bathroom (tub and shower), and either two single beds or a queen-size bed.
  • INSIDE CABINS (categories F, G, SI - Single Inside) have two single beds, and some include an additional bunk bed. Eight rooms in these categories are available at single occupancy rates.
  • All staterooms offer individually controlled air-conditioning, a Keurig brewer (tea/coffee maker), mini-bar/fridge, binoculars, personal safe, wardrobe, dresser with ample drawer space, telephone, alarm clock, luxury toiletries by Clarins, terry robes, hairdryer, as well as ample outlets and lighting.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside cabins and on balconies. The sun deck is the only designated smoking area onboard.
  • Complimentary soft drinks and bottled water are available throughout the cruise.
  • Complimentary wines and beers are served at dinner only.
  • Complimentary 24-hour room service is available.
  • Complimentary self-service laundry – multiple machines are located throughout the ship (soap provided); no dry-cleaning service is offered onboard.
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access.
  • American Queen cruise fares are all-inclusive, covering all shore excursions (“Steamcoach Tours” by luxury motorcoaches) and a 1-night pre-cruise hotel package.
