MS Arosa Alea (built in 2009 as "Avalon Affinity", formerly "Monarch Governess") is the first of three identical-class inland cruise vessels with a capacity of 138 passengers. Her sister ships include the Avalon Felicity (Monarch Countess) and Avalon Luminary (Monarch Duchess/VistaNeo). These vessels were the smallest in the Avalon Waterways fleet in terms of passenger capacity. Since 2019, they have been chartered by the US-based tour company Gate 1 Travel.
The Avalon Affinity (Monarch Governess) deck plan includes a total of 65 staterooms for 138 passengers, attended by 39 crew and staff. The ship has 4 passenger decks (including 3 with cabins), 3 lounges, 2 bars, 1 restaurant, and 1 elevator. There is no medical facility (no resident doctor) onboard. The Sun Deck features an outdoor jacuzzi (whirlpool), a SkyLight glass-roof cover over the Atrium, a sunbathing area with loungers, a shaded seating area with tables and deckchairs under retractable awnings, bike stations, and a deck games zone with a Giant Chess Set.
The ship's interior areas are spacious and elegantly furnished in a modern style.
All public venues on Decks 2 and 3 are fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, offering panoramic river views.
