Review of Crystal Serenity deck 5 (Crystal-Lobby-Dining)

Medical Center is the ship’s hospital operated by resident doctors / physicians and nurses on 24-hour call duty. The infirmary is open between 8 am – 8 pm (doctor hours are 8-11 am and 3-6 pm). Treatments at the ship hospital are equivalent to a private doctor’s visit. All treatments, tests and medications are at extra charge. The only exception is Bonine (seasickness medication) also available for free at the ship’s Reception (24 hours). General health insurance policies do not apply, so buying cruise health insurance is recommended.

Midship on Deck 5 is the “Crystal Plaza” Lobby/guest services area housing the Reception (information, assistance, dining reservations), Front Desk and Concierge Desk,  Shore Excursions Desk (information and bookings), Future Sales (booking) and Crystal Society (loyalty program information).

The “Crystal Cove” piano bar (portside) Crystal Cove” is a classy bar for specialty cocktails, with a la carte connoisseur menu. It offers live music evening performances (string quartet and piano).

Waterside / Crystal Dining Room (aft location) is with open-seating for breakfast (8-9:30 am) and lunch (12-1:30 pm), and with 2 fixed dinner seatings- Early (6:15 pm) and Late (8:30 pm). A 3rd option (called “Dining by Reservation”) offers different time each night table reservations (contact the Maitre D). The Crystal restaurant’s menu includes both destination-inspired and traditional dishes, while the 6-course menu for dinner additionally offers Chef’s specialty, together with light and Vegetarian meals. Following the dry dock in October 2018, Crystal Dining Room was transformed into Waterside, with increased seating capacity, more tables for 2 and 4, and new decor.

Passenger-accessible decks are interconnected via 8x elevators (3x forward, 3x midship, 2x aft).
