Review of MS Richard With deck 4 (Dining)

  • Deck 4 layout starts with the ship’s Library (portside) named after Stokmarknes – a small Norwegian town in the Hadsel municipality. The library has a selection of books in English, board games, comfortable seating and panoramic views from floor-ceiling windows.
  • Next are the two lecture halls (both portside) – “Trondheim” and “Hammerfest”. Both meeting rooms host multimedia presentations and expert lectures by scientists and wildlife experts. They are also used for business-, large group- and private meetings, conferences at sea, etc. 2 new lecture halls were added in 2018 next to Kompass information and shopping area.
  • Draugen Troll Lounge & Bar area (starboard) has comfortable seating and offers panoramic floor-ceiling window views.
  • Information Desk (portside) is for booking Hurtigruten tours/shore excursions, featuring dog sledding, bus tours to small towns (embarkation in the next port along the Richard With itinerary), “Northern Lights” and “North Cape”” themed excursions. The Info Center also provides printed daily onboard program schedule.
  • “Los Holtes Cafe” is a 24-hour open cafeteria, operated with a la carte menu for snacks, hot meals and beverages. The Cafe serves mainly local passengers, who use the Richard With ship as port-to-port ferry boat.
  • The Shop (portside) sells Norwegian souvenirs, gifts, toys, Hutigruten logo merchandise.
  • Next are the Video Games Arcade, a Kids Playroom (also serves as nursery /babysitting services) and the Internet Cafe (4 Internet computers and 1 printer).
  • Polar Restaurant is the ship’s dining room (capacity 240 seats, nonsmoking, renovated during 2018 refit) with deck-to-ceiling windows, buffet station and Galley / Kitchen. The Polar dining room offers buffet-style Breakfast (incl bacon, eggs, sausages, cold meats, selection of cheeses, seafood, breads, also cereals, fruits, porridge, self-service station for coffee-tea-juice) and Lunch (incl salads and soups, hot/cold meats, pate, seafood, vegetables, desserts). The 2-seating Dinner is waiter served (with 3-course menu /Scandinavian-Norwegian specialties). Wine by the bottle costs extra (a wine package is available for purchasing at the reception).
