Review of MS Roald Amundsen deck 11 (Observation-Sundeck)
As top-deck, Observation Deck (Sundeck upper level 2 of 2) is the perfect vantage area to take photos and enjoy the sea and port views along the Hurtigruten Fridtjof Nansen cruise itinerary route. Ship's top-deck features a Running Track (full-circle) and two Outdoor Gym areas. Observation Deck is accessible via stairs (inside and outside) and the Lift (passenger elevator connecting all decks).
The top deck also has a seating area with plenty of tables and deckchairs. The ship has a Helipad (helicopter landing area) used mainly for medical evacuations or other emergencies. Sundeck is also where Hurtigruten holds the special ceremony “Arctic Circle baptism” that includes a Neptune-costumed crew, icy seawater, and a vodka shot for warming up.
