Viking Truvor (built 1987 as “Kirov”, acquired/major refurbishment 2009, last refurbished in 2013) is one of all four Viking River Cruises Russia ships – together with Viking Akun, Viking Helgi and Viking Ingvar (all 4 of the same vessel class), and also Viking Rurik and Viking Sineus. This Volga River cruise ship is named after the Viking chieftain Truvor (the name means “faithful”). He and Sineus were brothers to Rurik – one of the most famous Vikings, the founder of the Rurik Dynasty and the Kievan Rus empire.
