Godmother announced for Ambassador Cruise Line's first ship Ambience

Ambassador Cruise Line UK announced that former British athlete, Sally Gunnell OBE had been chosen as godmother for their first vessel, Ambience.

Sally will rename the cruise ship at a special ceremony at London-Tilbury (England) on April 19.

The 1991-built cruise ship MV Ambience was previously known as "Pacific Dawn" (P&O Australia), "Amy Johnson" (CMV) and "Satoshi" (Ocean Builders' "Crypto Cruise Ship" 2020-2021). The vessel was launched as Regal Princess (link to the 2014-built liner). As "Pacific Dawn", it was operated by P&O Australia (Carnival Corporation-owned company) in the period 2007-2020. 

Ambassador is the first British cruise company to launch in the UK in over a decade. Sailing from London, the no-fly itineraries provide a premium-value, authentic experience predominantly aimed at the 50+ traveler.

Sally Gunnell was born in Chigwell (Essex). She is the only British woman to hold 4 major track titles simultaneously (Commonwealth, European, World, Olympic). Since retiring from international athletics, the 55-year-old Sally, who is also a mother of three, has become an advocate for health/well-being for the over 50s.

Ambassador Ambience will enter service on April 20th with a Maiden Voyage to Hamburg Germany, followed by 31x total sailings calling at 90+ different ports.

Itineraries include the British Isles, Norwegian Fjords, The Nordics/Scandinavia, European Arctic, Greenland and Iceland, as well as several short break cruises. During the winter, a range of exploration-style voyages will sail to Spain's Canaries, the Caribbean (including Cuba), Cape Verde Islands, Scandinavia.

Ambassador Ambience has an average passenger capacity of 1,400 and offers a feeling of spaciousness whilst retaining the sense of intimacy.
