A Princess Cruises' ship sailing roundtrip from the UK to Norway returned to homeport after a COVID outbreak onboard.

Sky Princess arrived in Southampton (England UK) on Saturday, June 25, concluding a 14-day voyage.

A company spokesperson has declined to confirm the number of positive cases onboard.

The cruise shipping industry in Southampton marked a recovery from the COVID crisis but is still facing outbreaks on liners.

Sky Princess' passengers shared that there had been 200+ people isolated onboard.

The spokesperson for Princess said those who had tested positive had been “isolated while monitored and cared for” by the medical team.

The spokesperson added that while they were not at liberty to disclose the specific number, during the voyage some COVID-positive cases amongst their guests had been identified.

“When cases are identified because of the testing onboard, cruise ship protocols help to maximize onboard containment with rapid response procedures designed to safeguard all other guests and crew as well as the communities that the ships visit.

“In collaboration with local health authorities, those guests who tested positive and had not completed the isolation period onboard were provided with accommodations ashore to hotels coordinated in advance for isolation purposes.”
