24 February 2023Structural and Technical Issues

Inboard Sky Princess now disembarking tomorrow. Woke up this morning (Feb 24) to announcements that there was flooding in the atrium on decks 5 and 6 due to a water leak from the aft pool.

As of the early afternoon, Piazza was back in business but many carpeted areas are roped off including the casino. Access to forward public spaces possible only by using forward elevators.

The accident occurred while the ship was at sea and during the 7-day "Eastern Caribbean with Bahamas Cruise" (itinerary February 18-25, roundtrip from Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA) visiting Eleuthera Bahamas (Princess Cays), St Thomas USVI (Charlotte Amalie), and St Maarten (Philipsburg).

June 2022Cruise Illness / Virus Outbreaks

(Coronavirus) On June 25, 2022, after returning to homeport Southampton (England UK), Sky Princess passengers reported 200+ COVID-positive cases based on the quarantined on the ship during the voyage.

A Princess Cruises spokesperson declined to confirm the exact number but commented that the cases were identified during the mandatory onboard testing (required by the ship's health protocols). All infected were isolated in their cabins according to the virus reporting and response procedures to safeguard all other guests and crew as well as the visited during the voyage communities. 

The outbreak occurred during the 14-day "Land of the Midnight Sun" (itinerary June 11-25, roundtrip from Southampton) visiting Norway's ports Haugesund, Skjolden, Olden, Trondheim, Honningsvag, Tromso, Leknes-Gravdal, Alesund, and Bergen.

27 September 2021Coast Guard Medevacs

On the night of September 27, 2021, the cruise ship changed course for a passenger medevac. A lifeboat dispatched from RNLI's Torbay Station met the liner off Brixham (Torbay-Devon England) for the emergency evacuation of a male passenger. From Torquay Harbour the man was ambulanced to the Torbay Hospital.

More details on the medevac were not revealed.

The incident occurred on the final night of a 6-night "Seacation" (cruise for British nationals only) roundtrip from Southampton and visiting Isle of Portland (England/Sept 22), Greenock-Glasgow (Scotland/Sept 25) and Belfast (Northern Ireland/Sept 26).
