Palma de Mallorca (Balearic Spain) sets cruise ship record for 2022 in terms of GT-tonnage

Port Palma de Mallorca (Majorca Island, Balearic Spain) set a cruise ship record for 2022 in terms of GT-gross tonnage/volume.

On Saturday, August 20, there were 5 cruise ships in Palma, with total GT 610231 - higher than the previous record this summer (603,989 GT tons/on July 22).

3 of the 5 vessels were mega-cruise ships (150,000+ GT) - AIDA's AIDAcosma, Royal Caribbean's Anthem OTS, and NCL's Norwegian Epic. The other 2 boats were Marella UK's Marella Discovery 2 and Seabourn's Sojourn.

The 3 mega-liners have a combined max passenger capacity 14200+. In total, the 5 ships can carry ~16500 tourists, though they are continuing to sail on reduced capacities.

Currently, 3+ ships are allowed to be in port at the same time and this Saturday was one of them. From 2023, there will not be any of those exceptional days. 3 ships will be the limit.
