On May 22, 2025, the Enchanted Princess ship, operated by Princess Cruises, was refused docking at the Grand Turk Harbour following an illness outbreak among passengers.
The ship, which was on a 7-night Caribbean itinerary originating from Port Everglades/Fort Lauderdale (Florida), reported approximately 50 cases of respiratory infections, influenza-like symptoms, and gastrointestinal/GI issues (Norovirus) during the voyage.
Upon reviewing the ship's medical documentation, health authorities in the Turks and Caicos Islands determined that allowing the vessel to dock posed a significant health risk to the local population. The decision was influenced by the island's compact geography, which could facilitate rapid transmission of communicable diseases among residents and visitors.
Health Minister Kyle Knowles emphasized that the primary concern was safeguarding the health of both the island's inhabitants and its guests. Consequently, the Enchanted Princess was instructed to bypass the port and continue its voyage.
The ship concluded its journey as scheduled, returning to Port Everglades on May 24.
