MSC Cruises has suspended upcoming sailings of MSC Orchestra ship following an engine room fire accident.
The event occurred during the early hours of a Tuesday morning, June 3rd, and affected the electrical switchboard. According to a statement released by MSC, the situation was swiftly brought under control, with no impact to guest areas and no injuries reported among passengers or crew.
MSC Orchestra, which is currently operating a series of 7-day Mediterranean itineraries, experienced a power outage for approximately three hours. The ship arrived in Genoa later than scheduled and is now undergoing assessment and repairs.
MSC has indicated that additional time will be required for thorough diagnostics and testing before the ship can resume operations.
Boarding for subsequent sailings from homeports Genoa and Marseille has been cancelled.
MSC has confirmed that guests affected by the disruption are receiving assistance and that appropriate compensation, including refunds, is being offered. It remains unclear how long the vessel will be out of service or when its Mediterranean itinerary will resume.
