Star Cruises has returned to Hong Kong with the inaugural homeport arrival of Star Voyager, officially marking the opening of its 2025 season from Harbour City’s Ocean Terminal (in Tsim Sha Tsui).
Positioned in Victoria Harbour’s core and directly connected to one of Hong Kong’s largest shopping centres, the terminal provides guests arriving by air, rail, or road with swift access to embarkation.
From June 27th until November 14th, 2025, Star Voyager will operate 45 roundtrips from Hong Kong. The itineraries (2-, 3- and 5-night) include short breaks (Friday-to-Sunday “Sea‑cation” cruises-to-nowhere) as well as 2-night jaunts to Kaohsiung. Meanwhile, 3-night cruises include Kaohsiung with a stop at Penghu, and 5-night itineraries travel to ports in Taiwan (Keelung, Kaohsiung, Penghu) and the Okinawa islands (Naha, Ishigaki, Miyakojima). A series of Southeast Asia voyages ventures farther afield to destinations such as Vietnam’s coast and Sanya and the Philippine islands of Boracay and Coron.
Star Voyager entered its Hong Kong season following a US $50 million refurbishment, said Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, who noted the ship’s refreshed amenities and expanded itinerary options. He added that the extension reflects strong regional demand. The Harbour City terminal’s convenience and proximity to retail, transport nodes, and city attractions contribute to the homeport strategy’s appeal.
Joanne Chu, Deputy Commissioner for Tourism of Hong Kong's Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, highlighted that the new sailings—which include ports such as Sanya—benefit from recent policy changes allowing visa-free travel for mainland Chinese passengers transiting through Hong Kong to board international cruises.
The deployment underscores Star Voyager’s role in StarCruises' renewed presence in Asia; the line’s revival comes under Resorts World Cruises, with Star Voyager and Star Navigator representing its mid-sized fleet.
