NCL's Pride of America pauses sailing after medical emergency

   August 3, 2025 ,   Accidents

The Pride of America, carrying over two thousand passengers, reversed course only minutes after departing Honolulu Harbor on Saturday evening, turning back to port within the hour.

The NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line vessel had cleared the pier just after 7:00 p.m., began its turnaround shortly thereafter, and returned to the berth by approximately 8:00 p.m. The Aloha Tower officials reported that the short deviation stemmed from a medical emergency aboard the ship—no further information was disclosed.

Following the uneventful integration of the incident into onboard procedures, the ship resumed its scheduled 7‑night Hawaii circuit, continuing with calls in Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. Royal Caribbean Group, the parent operator, had assured that affected guests had been informed through direct communication channels prior to disembarkation.

Pride of America continues to operate its intra‑island Hawaii itinerary under full health and safety oversight, with no reported disruptions to itinerary or schedule stemming from the earlier medical interlude.
